Day 7 - Lucignano d’Arbia to Buonconvento - about 13km
Just a shortish walk today as we have a long uphill hike tomorrow. Once we got back to the Via Francigena from our hotel, the day was fairly flat as we walked alongside a railway line for some time. Of course this couldn’t last and the hills returned, but with them came beautiful scenery.
Buonconvento means happy place! It is beautiful, well the old town is, our accommodation is in the new town - not so picturesque!
Our hotel last night had a sun terrace - great for pre dinner cocktails and watching the sun set
It also had interesting bedside tables! Gary has always wanted to sleep next to a humming fridge!
Yet another beautiful old building
The Via Francigena and the railway track - we didn’t see any trains
Some one has huge feet . It says ‘He walks with me’
We stopped in Ponte d’Arbie for a snack. The bar lady was a bit scary so we ended up with this strange pizza made from puff pastry!!!
In Ponte d’Arbie they have built this bridge for pilgrims so that you don’t have to squeeze across the old bridge with all the cars
The old bridge is beautiful though
And up we go! The trees were very weird
See those hills in the distance? They have some snow on the top!
And down hill towards Buonconvento
It’s market day!
The entrance gate
The old town
Our hotel isn’t in the old town - much more modern!

Tomorrow is 21 km mainly up hill! I bet that’s more than 18 flights
